Government Contracting Officer
In short
The government representative authorized to enter into, administer, or terminate contracts on behalf of the U.S. government. They are the key contact for any business with federal contracts.
What it means in a deal
If the business you're acquiring relies on government contracts, you'll eventually interact with a Contracting Officer. They oversee contract performance and payments. Your lender may need this officer's acknowledgment for an Assignment of Claims Act filing to secure the loan. Understand who they are and the contract terms.
