Glossary · Doing the deal

Land acquisition

In short

This refers to the purchase of undeveloped or developed land. You care if the business acquisition involves buying the real estate where the business operates, or land for future expansion.

What it means in a deal

An SBA 7(a) loan can finance the acquisition of land as part of a larger business purchase or expansion project, provided the land will be owner-occupied and used for business operations. This is a common component of total project costs for businesses with real estate.
