Readily Marketable Personal Asset
In short
A readily marketable personal asset is something you own personally that can be quickly converted to cash, like publicly traded stocks or bonds. The SBA might require you to use these assets to reduce a collateral shortfall.
What it means in a deal
If your deal has a collateral shortfall, the SBA may require you to pledge readily marketable personal assets as additional collateral or liquidate them to increase your equity injection. This reduces the lender's risk. Be prepared to provide brokerage statements to prove ownership and value.
