Voting Equity

In short

This refers to ownership shares in a company that grant the holder the right to vote on corporate matters, such as board elections or major decisions. It represents control.

What it means in a deal

Your equity injection typically translates into voting equity, giving you control of the acquired business. Lenders will ensure your equity stake is sufficient to demonstrate your commitment and control. Be clear on the percentage of voting equity you will acquire in the deal.
