Fiscal Agent

In short

A fiscal agent handles financial matters, such as managing funds, making payments, and maintaining financial records, on behalf of another party. This role is less common in typical SBA 7(a) acquisitions.

What it means in a deal

While not usually a direct participant in a standard 7(a) loan closing, a fiscal agent might be involved in more complex financing structures or specific government-backed programs. If one is present, understand their exact responsibilities and how they interact with the flow of funds in your transaction.
